We all hide try to hide aspects of our personality from people, even the people closest to us. It might be due to shame, embarrassment, guilt or just wanting to avoid an argument. Bottling things up like that can be frustrating and stressful.
Sometimes it’s helpful just to be able to say something aloud. People don’t even need to be listening, just the fact that its “out there” can be helpful. That’s the idea of ‘My Friends Don’t Know‘. It gives you the opportunity to tell a secret, make a confession, let the world know somethign. But you can do it completely anonymously.
Our secrets don’t have to be terrible. I came up with the idea for this site when I was thinking one day about how tough it had been for me to tell my friends that I was politically conservative. Not because I thought that there was anything wrong with those opinions, but because I knew they’d be unpopular. Most of my friends were left wing or liberal in outlook. I was hiding myself so as to avoid an argument. I felt a lot better when I let the real me out.
It’s very simple. Fill in the form on the right with a short message or confession, 140 characters maximum. That message is checked to make sure it’s not spam, that the spelling is correct, and then it’s posted to the site and appears on the front page. The submissions are anonymous. We don’t see your name, email or any personal details when we’re checking a submission.
The site is powered by WordPress and all the entries are kept permanently. You can check the most recent archives, or search past submissions.
